Below are answers to some of the most common questions that my customers ask. If you have a query that is not covered then please contact me.
What do I need to do to get my website up and running?
Firstly you need to think about what you want it to say. If
you already have a business brochure or advertising literature
then this is the best place to start.
Next you need to decide
what you want your visitors to get from the website. Do you
just want to tell them where you are or do you want to tell
them all about your products and services, and allow them to
buy things online?
Finally you need to contact me
to discuss your requirements.
How do I send information to you?
You can sent me information by e-mail, cloud file sharing or just stick it in the post! I can accept
information in most formats, please contact me
to discuss your specific requirements.
Will I need a domain name?
Yes, you will need a domain name. If you also need webspace
then it is best to buy them both as a package.
I can
register a domain name for you, and host your website as
well. Domain name registration costs from £5 per year and
website hosting costs from £60 per year.
My internet service provider has given me free webspace, can
I use this for my website?
You might be able to use your free webspace for your website,
but we will have to check that is it suitable. If you want any viewer interaction, such as a feedback
form, your webspace will need to have either a cgi-bin,
FrontPage Extensions or some other form handler. Also many internet
service providers only provide free webspace for personal use,
and they do not allow selling or advertising.
Can I accept credit cards on my website?
Yes, I currently offer two ways for you to accept credit cards on
your website; the PayPal Shopping
Cart and Actinic
Catalog1. The PayPal Shopping Cart is
best suited to the smaller e-commerce website that only wants
to sell a handful of basic items online. PayPal processes your
customer's payments for you, so that all you have to worry about
is sending them the goods.
The Actinic Catalog is best for the larger
e-commerce website as it is highly expandable and can be
customised to suit most needs. Have a look at Actinic's
website to find out more.
1a licence fee is required for
the Actinic Catalog Software, click here to find out the current price.
